ANTI-SLIP CHAINS ARE NOW MANDATORY IN SNOW AND ICE!
The specific obligation of the drivers concerns the national or regional level of the country, during the period from October to April of each year and when the prevailing conditions require it.
The fine for offending drivers is set at 80 euros (€).
Drivers of vehicles must:
a. Ensure that vehicles are equipped with suitable anti-slip means if the vehicle is driven in areas where snow or frost conditions prevail.
b. To know how to install and operate anti-slip means, so as to ensure their correct use and
c. To adjust their driving when antiskids are used, depending on the prevailing conditions and the specifications of the vehicles and the antiskid means.
The purpose of the decision on the mandatory supply of chains to vehicles when their use is required, is to ensure road traffic and the safety of drivers and passengers on snowy or icy roads.”
